Although designed and built to fit a modest budget, this house in Monte Rio, bordering Dutch Bill Creek, has many fine details. The bottom 3 feet of siding was milled out of the old redwood log slabs that were the siding on the original house.  Stained cedar shingles, with a cedar band board, complete the exterior walls.  We also used some of the original interior rough siding boards on the walls of the living room and entry hall.  A high-ceilinged living room with upper windows gives a spacious feeling to a small house.  The large tiered deck, built around a tree, overlooks the lawn, garden and creek. The roof is standing seam metal.
