This house and guest/bath house in Sebastopol was a joint venture with Joinery Structures. This Japanese inspired house with contemporary American elements has an incredible roof structure built around a natural log.  All of these parts were precut in the Joinery Structures workshop and then assembled in place. The extended roof of the main house is supported by a post resting on a stone in the pond. The pond and swimming pool are separated by a wooden bridge.  We poured the concrete paving around the pool as separate pieces to give the feeling of individual pavers, rather than scored concrete.  The relief of the concrete retaining walls was created with individual boards, leaving an impression of wood grain on the finished concrete.  Large banks of folding, custom made, steel framed glass doors open up a whole corner of the house onto the pool patio.
